Surf Green nitrocellulose lacquer over a solid alder body, lightly aged so it reads as a well kept early sixties instrument rather than a distressed one. The maple neck carries a medium C profile and a rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges, and a pair of Jason Lollar handwound pickups handles the voice: a Vintage T in the neck and a Special T in the bridge. A three ply white pickguard and aged chrome hardware finish the picture.
Bill Nash built his reputation on exactly this idea. Take everything that makes a 1963 Telecaster feel right, build it with modern precision, and skip the six figure price tag that comes with the real thing. The T-63 is the result, and it sits comfortably alongside the Fender Custom Shop instruments in our collection. Every one is assembled and aged by hand in Olympia, Washington, which means no two leave the shop looking quite the same.
The pickup pairing is the part players tend to comment on first. The Lollar Vintage T in the neck position gives you a full bodied midrange with a clear, unclouded top end, the sound that makes a Telecaster neck pickup so much more than a warm alternative to the bridge. Switch across and the Special T brings noticeably more output, a rounder treble and extra weight underneath, so the jump from neck to bridge lifts you rather than thinning you out. Roll the tone back and the bridge edges toward P90 territory. Classic twang is all there when you want it, but this set has more range than a strictly vintage voiced pair.
Light aging means the finish has been gently checked and worn at the natural contact points, with hardware that has lost its factory shine. It feels played in from the first chord and it will keep earning its wear rather than trying to hide it. The 10" fingerboard radius, medium C carve and rolled edges make it an easy guitar to spend hours with, and the vintage style bridge with compensated brass saddles keeps intonation honest across the neck.
This one arrived as a trade in, so it is a single instrument and once it is gone it is gone.
