Aged Olympic White that has yellowed into a deep, creamy vintage tone, worn down by heavy relic treatment with playing marks all over the top and back of the two piece alder body. The maple neck carries a 65 Strat "C" profile with the finish stripped from the back so it feels dark, dirty and instantly broken in, topped with a darker round laminated rosewood fingerboard, a 9.5" radius and medium jumbo frets. What makes this one special is the pickup set: three Seymour Duncan SLS-1 Lipstick Tube single coils in a green black green nitrate pickguard, a clear nod to "Charley", the white Strat style guitar that Charley Wirz built for Stevie Ray Vaughan in Dallas in late 1983 and that Stevie reached for on "Life Without You". Lipstick tube pickups sound nothing like a standard Strat set: chimey, glassy and open with a wiry bite and a scooped, slightly hollow midrange that cleans up beautifully and snarls when you push it. Combined with the small headstock, the vintage 3 pat number decal and the relic chrome and nickel hardware, this Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster looks and feels like a guitar that has been out on the road for four decades.
