A Fender Custom Shop Telecaster finished in one of the most striking colour combinations to ever leave the Corona workshop: a Sherwood Metallic top contrasted with deep Plum-coloured sides, bound top and bottom in parchment binding, all under a pristine New Old Stock lacquer finish. This '59 Tele Custom was built to period-correct specifications, pairing a 59 Large "C" maple neck with an AAA-grade slab rosewood fingerboard, vintage clay dot inlays, medium jumbo frets, and a bone nut. Certain specifications on both the body and neck were developed in consultation with George Blanda, ensuring authentic vintage detailing throughout. Under the parchment 8-hole pickguard sit a matched set of hand-wound '58 Telecaster pickups: an Alnico 3 neck unit and an Alnico 5 bridge unit, both voiced for that unmistakably bright, twangy late-1950s Telecaster sound with a slightly fuller low end and smooth highs. This is a 2025 build with sequence number 46327, completed on 27 March 2025.
